چکیده
The projected increase in temperature and water scarcity represents a challenge for winegrowers due to changing climatic conditions. Although heat drought often occur concurrently nature, there is still little known about the effects of stress (WS) on grapevines hot environments. This study aimed assess whether grapevine’s physiological spectral responses WS environments differ from those expected under lower temperatures. Therefore, we propose an integrated approach physiological, thermal, response two grapevine varieties (Vitis vinifera L.), Grenache Shiraz, environment. In controlled environment room (CER), imposed high-temperature conditions (TMIN 30 °C–TMAX 40 °C) compared performance well-watered (WW) WS-ed potted own-rooted Shiraz (SH_WW, SH_WS, GR_WW, GR_WS, respectively). We monitored vines’ spectral, thermal trends imposition recovery after re-watering. Then, performed correlation analysis between parameters vegetation indices (VIs). Finally, looked best-fitting models predict based VIs. results showed that GR_WS was more negatively impacted than SH_WS terms net photosynthesis (Pn, GR-WS = 1.14 ?mol·CO2 m?2·s?1; SH-WS 3.64 m?2·s?1), leaf transpiration rate (E, 1.02 mmol·H2O 1.75 stomatal conductance (gs, 0.04 mol·H2O 0.11 m?2·s?1). intrinsic water-use efficiency (WUEi Pn/gs) (26.04 mol?1 H2O) (34.23 comparable SH_WW (26.31 H2O). not unaffected by except E. After stress, Pn, gs, E did recover, as they were significantly other treatments. anthocyanin Gitelson (AntGitelson) green normalised difference index (GNDVI) had significant negative correlations with stem potential (?stem), positive WUEi. contrast, photochemical reflectance (PRI), (WI), infrared (NDII) opposite trend. crop (CWSI) ?stem both varieties. Our findings help unravel behaviour vines suggest instrumental approaches managing abiotic stress.

Modelling leaf photosynthetic and transpiration temperature-dependent responses in Vitis vinifera cv. Semillon grapevines growing in hot, irrigated vineyard conditions
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Grapevines growing in Australia are often exposed to very high temperatures and the question of how the gas exchange processes adjust to these conditions is not well understood. The aim was to develop a model of photosynthesis and transpiration in relation to temperature to quantify the impact of the growing conditions on vine performance. METHODOLOGY Leaf gas exchange was...
متن کاملEffect of Drought Stress on Some Physiological Traits in Three Varieties of Grapes (Vitis vinifera L.)
Drought stress is one of the most important limiting factors for cultivation and production of grapes in the world and Iran. To study the effect of drought stress on some physiological traits of three cultivars, i.e. ‘Fakhri’, ‘Molaei’ and ‘Ghalati’, a factorial experiment in completely randomized design with three soil water potential treatments. i.e. -0.2 (control), -0.7 and -1.2 MPa was impl...
متن کاملEffect of Rootstocks on Physiological and Biochemical Responses of Vitis vinifera ‘Shahroudi’ to Salinity and Bicarbonate Stress Conditions
The synchronization of salt stress and dominance of calcareous soils in warm and dry climate regions has led to alkaline salinity stress in vineyards. In this study, the effects of salinity and bicarbonate stresses (alone or in combination) on photosynthetic reactions and nutrient variations of Vitis vinifera ‘Shahroudi’ as a susceptible grape cultivar were evaluated. Using stenting method, sci...
متن کاملOxidative stress homeostasis in grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.)
Plants can maintain growth and reproductive success by sensing changes in the environment and reacting through mechanisms at molecular, cellular, physiological, and developmental levels. Each stress condition prompts a unique response although some overlap between the reactions to abiotic stress (drought, heat, cold, salt or high light) and to biotic stress (pathogens) does occur. A common feat...
متن کاملUnderstanding Differential Responses of Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) Leaf and Fruit to Water Stress and Recovery Following Re-Watering
Among all fruit crops of horticultural importance, grapevines (Vitis vinifera L.) stand out as the most drought tolerant crop species whose tolerance is credited to their proficiency to recover from water stress in both the natural and vineyard growing conditions. However, information on the recovery responses is relatively scant. Studies were conducted to address this issue using potted vines ...
